Whether your new to Memory Matters or have been involved with us since the beginning, you may at some time find yourself wondering how our services can still be useful to you, your loved one, or your family. Memory Matters doesn't serve to be a one-stage resource center for people with dementia. Instead, we hope to be with you through your journey to aid in any way that we can. So how can Memory Matters help you?

Early Stage Memory Loss Class

Twice a year, Memory Matters puts on an Early Stage Memory Loss (ESML) class. These classes are for both the person with dementia and the caregiver. We bring in professionals from the community who discuss anything from financial planning to stress management. The person with dementia also has an opportunity to participate in cognitive training activities. We started our fall series last week, so there's still nine weeks remaining. This is a free service, but a donation of $25 is suggested. If you're interested in joining us, please call us at the office at (435) 319-0407 to get signed up and to get more information.

Memory Activity Class

Our Memory Activity Class (MAC) runs three days per week for four hours each. It's run by our Activities Coordinator, Eliot Hill. Our clients participate in cognitive training, music therapy, art projects, and more! This has been an awesome outlet for our caregivers, as this gives them time to work, shop, see friends, and other things that they may be unable to do otherwise. Our caregivers have shown a lot of support for this service. If you're interested in bringing your loved one to the MAC, please contact Janet at the office at (435) 319-0407.

Care Consultations

LuAnn Lundquist, the Executive Director, sits down one-on-one with our clients to discuss possible resources for you during your journey. She can also do different types of testing which may tell you if you or your loved one should see a physician to do further testing. This is a one hour session that is used to answer any questions you have or address any concerns that have come up. This is a free service, but a donation of $25 is suggested. To set up an appointment, contact the office!

Support Groups

Memory Matters offers various support groups throughout the community. The most popular currently is at the Memory Matters office. This group meets every Wednesday from 1:00-2:00. This is a true support group - people in similar situations getting together to talk about their struggles and lift each other up through their journey. We have individuals who have stayed even after the passing of their loved one. We encourage this. The grieving process is part of the caregiving journey and we hope to be a support for you through the final stages, as well. If you are unable to make this support group, but are interested in another support group, contact the office for the list of times and locations.

Resource Connection

Throughout your journey, you may find yourself seeking our different types of support. You may need a recommendation on a doctor, a lawyer, a CPA, a skilled nursing facility, etc. We are here to offer those resources to you. We will walk you through the steps of connecting with people and resources that can aid you as you give care to your loved one.

Emergency Support

If at anytime you feel unsafe or unsure how to handle a situation with a loved one, we are here to guide you through it. You can call the office and we will walk you step-by-step through contacting emergency services, social workers, and/or the hospital.

If you or anybody you know is in need of services for caregiving, call us at the office or email us at info@memorymattersutah.org. Memory Matters wants to continue to serve our amazing caregivers who do a wonderful work in their homes. Remember, through this, you're not alone.
